How Video Compression Codecs Work
Video compression relies on codecs (encoder/decoder). Codecs compress video using two primary techniques:

The Bitrate Trade-Off
Providers continuously balance visual fidelity against network stability. A higher bitrate provides pristine image detail and zero compression artefacts, but increases buffering risk for subscribers on modest broadband packages.
