While a VPN can protect privacy and eliminate ISP throttling, it also introduces additional failure points. If your IPTV service works normally without a VPN but fails when your VPN is activated, review these common conflicts.
1. Provider Server IP Blacklisting
Some IPTV service providers maintain strict automated firewalls designed to prevent credential sharing. These security systems automatically flag and block IP address ranges associated with major commercial VPN data centres.
Solution: Switch your VPN app's server location to a different city or test a dedicated streaming server option within your VPN client.
2. The VPN "Kill Switch" Tripping
Most premium VPN apps feature a "Kill Switch" that instantly halts all internet communication if the VPN connection drops even for a fraction of a second:
- The Symptom: Your stream abruptly freezes and refuses to reload until you restart your streaming device.
- Solution: Check your VPN connection status. If your home Wi-Fi signal flutters momentarily, the Kill Switch may have severed connectivity to protect your IP.
3. Streaming Device Processor Exhaustion
Running a heavy VPN client in the background while simultaneously running a demanding IPTV media player with a 10,000-channel EPG places significant strain on low-end streaming sticks (such as older Firesticks).
Solution: If your streaming stick runs hot and apps crash, configure the VPN at the router level, allowing your router to handle the encryption workload and freeing 100% of your TV device's processor for video decoding. If you still encounter problems, explore our router settings guide or contact our customer support.
